Massachusetts school closings and delays for Wednesday, Oct. 27

The following schools have announced closings or delayed start times for Wednesday, Oct. 27.

A strong coastal storm arrived in Massachusetts Monday, bringing periods of heavy rainfall and strong winds to the region. The storm continued to intensify Tuesday and the National Weather Service has issued multiple watches and warnings, including a high wind warning and flash flood watch.

The amount of rainfall expected will vary widely by community. Some communities will see as little as one inch by Wednesday evening while some may see up to six inches.

  • Abington Public Schools — Closed Wednesday
  • Acushnet Public Schools — Closed Wednesday
  • Attleboro Public Schools — Closed Wednesday. From district officials: “Due to power outages in the area, we have made the decision to cancel school for today (10.27). Please be safe.”
  • Barnstable Public Schools — Closed Wednesday. From district officials: “Due to the inclement weather and the extensive power outages, ALL Barnstable Public Schools will be CLOSED Wednesday, October 27, 2021. Stay safe!”
  • Berkley Public Schools — Closed Wednesday
  • Beverly Public Schools — Closed Wednesday. From district officials: “Due to the Fall Storm with high winds and power outages in Beverly, there will be no school today, Wednesday, October 27, 2021. All schools will be closed.”
  • Blue Hills Regional Technical School — Closed Wednesday
  • Bourne Public Schools — Closed Wednesday. From district officials: “Due to inclement weather that caused multiple power outages and downed trees in the area, there is NO SCHOOL for all Bourne Public Schools today, October 27, 2021.”
  • Bridgewater-Raynham Regional School District — Closed Wednesday
  • Bristol County Agricultural High School — Closed Wednesday
  • Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical School — Closed Wednesday
  • Brockton Public Schools — Closed Wednesday
  • Cape Cod Regional Technical High School — Two-hour delay Wednesday
  • Carver Public Schools — Closed Wednesday
  • Cohasset Public Schools — Closed Wednesday
  • Dartmouth Public Schools — Closed Wednesday
  • Dighton-Rehoboth Regional School District — Closed Wednesday
  • Duxbury Public Schools — Closed Wednesday
  • East Bridgewater Public Schools — Closed Wednesday
  • Easton Public Schools — Closed Wednesday. From district officials: “All EPS schools will be CLOSED today, October 27th. Unfortunately, we have several road closures and power outages due to the storm. Please avoid road travel until the DPW has safely removed all debris if at all possible. Stay safe, everyone!”
  • Fairhaven Public Schools — Closed Wednesday
  • Fall River Public Schools — Closed Wednesday
  • Falmouth Public Schools — Closed Wednesday. From district officials: “Falmouth Public Schools will be closed today, October 27th, due to the current road conditions, sustained high winds, and widespread power outages. We will keep staff and families updated as we have more information to report. Please be safe.”
  • Hanover Public Schools — Closed Wednesday
  • Hingham Public Schools — Closed Wednesday
  • Holbrook Public Schools — Closed Wednesday
  • Hull Public Schools — Closed Wednesday
  • Mansfield Public Schools — Closed Wednesday
  • Marblehead Community Charter Public School — Two-hour delay Wednesday
  • Marshfield Public Schools — Closed Wednesday
  • Mashpee Public Schools — Closed Wednesday
  • Middleborough Public Schools — Closed Wednesday
  • Milton Public Schools — Two-hour delay Wednesday. From district officials: “Two hour delay at the Milton Public Schools. All schools will start 2 hours after their regular start. All buses will run two hours later.”
  • Monomoy Regional School District — Closed Wednesday
  • Nauset Public Schools — Closed Wednesday. From district officials: “Due to high winds, rain and power outages all Nauset Public Schools and buildings will be closed today, October 27, 2021.”
  • New Bedford Public Schools — Closed Wednesday. From district officials: “Due to inclement weather, power outages and lack of passable streets. New Bedford Public Schools will be CLOSED today: Wednesday, October 27, 2021. All administrative offices are closed today as well.”
  • Norton Public Schools — Closed Wednesday
  • Pembroke Public Schools — Closed Wednesday
  • Plymouth Public Schools — Closed Wednesday. From district officials: “Due to the severity of today’s storm, all schools are closed. Please stay safe!”
  • Provincetown Public Schools — Closed Wednesday
  • Quincy Public Schools — Closed Wednesday
  • Randolph Public Schools — Closed Wednesday. From district officials: “Due to the many power outages across town from the high winds, RPS will be closed today, Wednesday, October 27th.”
  • Rising Tide Charter Public School — Closed Wednesday
  • Rockland Public Schools — Closed Wednesday
  • Sandwich Public Schools — Closed Wednesday
  • Scituate Public Schools — Closed Wednesday. From district officials: “Due to the severity of the storm, which includes widespread townwide power outages and flooding conditions at some areas along the coast, Scituate Public Schools will be closed today (Wednesday, October 27). Please stay safe and we will see everyone tomorrow.”
  • Silver Lake Regional School District — Closed Wednesday
  • South Shore Regional Vocational Technical High School — Two-hour delay Wednesday. From district officials: “Given the weather forecast for this later evening and early tomorrow morning, we will start off Wednesday 10/27 with a 2-hour delay. We will reassess in the early morning what things look like in terms of power outages and road conditions to decide if further action needs to be taken. We will send a follow up communication tomorrow morning only if we need to cancel school in its entirety.”
  • Stoughton Public Schools — Two-hour delay Wednesday. From district officials: “* The middle school and high school will open at 9:30am. * Elementary schools will open at 10:15am. * There will be no morning preschool. * Full day preschool will start at 10:15am. * Bus pickups will be 2 hours later than normal.”
  • Sturgis Charter Public School — Two-hour delay Wednesday
  • Taunton Public Schools — Closed Wednesday
  • Truro Public Schools — Closed Wednesday
  • Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical School — Closed Wednesday. From district officials: “Due to conditions related to the nor’easter UCT will be closed on Wednesday, October 27th. All daytime and evening classes are cancelled.”
  • Wareham Public Schools — Closed Wednesday
  • West Bridgewater Public Schools — Closed Wednesday. From district officials: “NO SCHOOL TODAY – Due to multiple power outages in town and potential unsafe driving conditions there will be no school in West Bridgewater today. Be safe.”
  • Weymouth Public Schools — Two-hour delay Wednesday. From district officials: “Champions before school care will also operate with a two hour delay, and the morning preschool session at JECC is cancelled.”
  • Whitman-Hanson Regional School District — Closed Wednesday
